Road to the Horse 2025 Retreat Inspires at The Ranch at NRS

Road to the Horse welcomed horsemen and horsewomen from near and far for the very first Road to the Horse Retreat on September 19–21, 2025, in Decatur, Texas. This inaugural event was more than just a gathering — it was a celebration of horsemanship, community, and the western lifestyle. Over the course of the weekend, attendees enjoyed inspiring clinics, educational demonstrations, and the thrill of the Retreat Obstacle Challenge, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

A highlight of the retreat was the Obstacle Challenge, where riders showcased their skills, patience, and connection with their horses. Congratulations to Juan Bernardo Bermeo, who made the journey all the way from Ecuador and was crowned the 2025 Retreat Obstacle Challenge Champion. JB shared that the event was “the best horsemanship journey of his life,” a testament to the unique spirit and impact of the retreat. The final standings reflected the high level of talent and dedication among all participants, with Teena Westmoreland, Michelle Brook, Dennis Tipton, Gina Simmonds, and Ella Adams rounding out the top six.

The retreat was brought to life by the wisdom and leadership of world-class clinicians. Cole Cameron, Mike Major, Craig Cameron, Buster McLaury poured their knowledge and passion into every session, guiding riders toward growth and deeper understanding. Their dedication fostered an atmosphere of learning, encouragement, and joy, where participants left not only as better horsemen but also as part of a stronger horsemanship family.

Past Road to the Horse World Champion and special guest Richard Winters joining the retreat on Saturday night for an exclusive q/A session with clinic participants.
