Elisa Wallace is an American five-star event rider and horse trainer. She is recognized for her competitive achievements and her work with American Mustangs and Off-the-Track Thoroughbreds (OTTBs). Wallace’s equestrian career started at age two, building on a family background in horses. By age nine, she became the youngest eventer to win a gold medal at the Georgia State Games in Combined Training. While she briefly explored hunter/jumper and equitation, her primary focus remained eventing.
Wallace has competed at high-level eventing competitions, such as the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event and the Burghley Horse Trials, often with her horse Simply Priceless. She was named an alternate for the 2016 Olympic Games. In 2022, she won the USEF CCI3*-L Eventing National Championship with Renkum Corsair. Her current string of horses includes Lissavorra Quality and Tullymurry Fifi.
Her work with Mustangs gained national attention when she won the 2012 Extreme Mustang Makeover with Fledge. This event solidified her commitment to showcasing the versatility of these wild horses. She continues to train and promote Mustangs, highlighting their abilities in English disciplines. Her goal is to train a Mustang to the Advanced level of eventing. Wallace also supports the rehoming of OTTBs. In 2018, she won the eventing division at the Retired Racehorse Project Thoroughbred Makeover with Reloaded, earning the “America’s Most Wanted Thoroughbred” title.
Wallace’s approach to horsemanship has been influenced by various equestrians. She credits Lucinda Green, Mark Todd, and Karen O’Connor for inspiring her competitive drive and technical skills. Natural horsemanship clinicians such as Buck Brannaman, Chris Cox, Stacey Westfall, and Tristan Tucker have also shaped her training philosophy, emphasizing communication and understanding between horse and rider. These diverse influences contribute to her comprehensive training methods.
Wallace shares her knowledge and training insights through her YouTube channel and social media. She provides a look into her training processes and the development of her horses.
