Collegiate Colt Starting at the Idaho Horse EXPO

Each year the Idaho Horse Council  produces the State’s largest equine EXPO which attracts exhibitors and spectators from across the United States. The EXPO features highly regarded trainers and clinicians from across the state and nation, the latest in products ranging from jewelry to arena equipment, entertainment, industry-related seminars, youth activities, and competitions from youth roping, to trail events and even jousting.

The Idaho Horse EXPO is held April 7-9 at the Ford Idaho Horse Park. Road to the Horse has partnered with the Idaho Horse Expo to present a Collegiate Colt Starting Competition that will be featured at these times:

  • Friday April 7th – 12:00pm – Round 1
  • Saturday April 8th – 12:00pm – Round 2
  • Sunday April 9th – 12:00pm – Round 3
  • Sunday April 9th – 4:00pm – Finals

The collegiate teams are:

  • University of Montana Western, Dillon, MT (Coach Eric Hoffmann)
  • Feather River Community College, Quincy, CA (Coach Suzannah Campbell)
  • Treasure Valley Community College, Ontario, OR (Coach Wade Black)

Thank you to Bar 71 Ranch for providing the gentle, haltered colts. Colts will be chosen Friday morning by the teams, competition held daily at 12:00pm, culminating in an obstacle challenge at 4:00pm on Sunday.
