Road to the Horse 2026 Judges

Five individuals as unique as the event itself will judge the world’s best colt starters at horsemanship’s most prestigious event, Road to the Horse 2026, taking place March 19–22 in Lexington, Kentucky. Each judge on the panel is an expert in their discipline, bringing a blend of fresh perspectives and seasoned experience. By selecting individuals from varied backgrounds with diverse skill sets, experiences, and viewpoints, Road to the Horse ensures a dynamic and inclusive approach to judging. These judges are open-minded, adaptable, and committed to considering all methodologies of horsemanship, allowing for a well-rounded evaluation process. With an emphasis on building a solid foundation, each judge carefully evaluates every step from beginning to end as competitors create a connection with their colt. This year’s distinguished panel of judges includes Kathy Baar, David O’Connor, Eric Hoffman, Jesse Westfall, and Jeff Williams. Please note: Due to a family medical emergency, previously announced judge Punk Carter has had to withdraw from his judging position on Monday, March 16. We are grateful that Kathy Baar, a United States Equestrian Federation Gold Medalist, will be stepping in to serve as judge.
