Road to the Horse was guaranteed to make history and it did not disappoint. Fans travelled from around the world to witness master horseman Chris Cox accumulate his unprecedented fourth Road to the Horse World Championship. A sold out crowd in the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park was on the edge of their seats while each competitor piloted two 6666 Ranch bred geldings through the final obstacle course, chasing a record setting $100,000 purse.

“I am so proud of the evolution of Road to the Horse. Now, thirteen years in the making, we have sold out arenas, pushed the boundaries, set records and became the world’s most anticipated equine event” states Road to the Horse Owner and Producer Tootie Bland. “For the very first time, we will take to the air on RFD-TV April 1, 2015. We have the privilege of bringing millions of fans the phenomenal horsemanship of Road to the Horse, as Chris Cox proves on not only one colt, but two, that he is a master of colt starting.”

Barbara Cox served as Cox’s Pen Wrangler throughout the competition and his children, Charley and Case, joined him during his riding demonstration at the event. His young daughter Charley Cox had the privilege of presenting her father with the 2015 World Championship Gist buckle.

Fans watched Trevor Carter take the 2015 Ram Trucks Wildcard Championship title prior to the main competition. Carter and his 6666 Ranch bred gelding Royal Wall (aka Sailor) were also rewarded Fan Favorite honors after thousands of fans cast their votes over 24 hours. Carter made his way straight to the WW Livestock Systems round pen after only minutes of hearing the results.

Both Trevor Carter and Road to the Horse 2014 World Champion Jim Anderson had colts that challenged their colt starting skills, which treated the fans to an amazing display of horsemanship throughout the weekend.

    Notes from Dr. Glenn Blodgett:

“This colt represents both cow and race bloodlines. We have been crossing cow horses on race bloodlines to bring in new blood in the cow horse line. We also like a bigger horse on the ranch and we like the speed of race bloodlines. There are several colts in the RTTH 2015 AQHA Remuda that are represented this way and we have seen this cross be very successful at Road to the Horse.

The dam’s sire, TANQUERY GIN was one of the all-time great horses on the 6666 Ranch, he was a modern ranch horse sire. In my opinion he had the greatest positive influence on our program up till now, because of both the development of A.I. in breeding and his long life.

His colts are very easy to get along with and they were particularly good on the ranch in regards to size and stamina. Sometimes you have a horse with good stamina but you get traits you may not like. Both a good mind and stamina, along with cow sense are traits of TANQUERY GIN.”

    Additional Notes:

    • Half-brother (by Sire) SIXES EYESA who ran in the 2014 AQHA Remuda from the 6666 Ranch.
    • Road to the Horse 2012 Co-Champion Guy McLean selected VALLIANT PADDY to take the championship title, a colt he now calls ‘AUSSIE’. The dam of VALLIANT PADDY was sired by TANQUERY GIN.
  • Road to the Horse Brings Double the Excitement in 2015

Road to the Horse is well known for exciting twists and turns that keep the competition on the cutting edge of the equine industry. Road to the Horse 2015 will be no exception. For the very first time in the history of this prestigious event, fans will witness each competitor select two different horses from the AQHA Remuda from the 6666 Ranch. Competitors will take each colt through the entire competition, including the obstacle course and the winner of the event will be calculated on an accumulative score from both colts. This format will demonstrate the ability of each competitor to adjust their training techniques to work with the different personalities of the horse.

Undefeated 3x Road to the Horse Champion Chris Cox will return to Road to the Horse in 2015. Chris Cox is a master of colt starting with World Championship wins in 2007, 2008 and 2011. No other competitor in the electrifying history of Road to the Horse has taken home the coveted title every time they have stepped into the round pen.

Road to the Horse 2014 Champion and Ram Wild Card Champion Jim Anderson will also return in 2015 to defend his title. Fans at Road to the Horse 2014 witnessed a Cinderella story unfold when Anderson captured both the Wild Card Championship title and the main event title. The 2015 Wild Card winner will be announced and then immediately step into a round pen to compete for the Road to the Horse 2015 World Championship of Colt Starting title against Anderson and Cox.

“It’s double the 6666 Ranch horse power, double the horsemanship, double the excitement and double the challenge at Road to the Horse 2015 when our 3X Undefeated World Champion Chris Cox returns to face off with our 2014 World Champion Jim Anderson and the 2015 Wild Card Champion. Did anyone expect less from Road to the Horse 2015? “ states Road to the Horse Owner and Producer, Tootie Bland. “When the dust clears on Sunday there will not be enough adjectives in the dictionary to describe this historical Road to the Horse!”

Road to the Horse fans are also in for an additional treat when one lucky fan will walk away from Road to the Horse 2015 with a check for $10,000.
